Cada tipo de whisky utiliza un tipo de madera en el barril, incluso es la destilería quien decide si utilizar barriles nuevos, o no, quemados o no, etc. En el caso de los whiskies de malta, los barriles han de ser de cagiga y que anteriormente hayan contenido vinos de Jerez o Bourbon.

The distillery was extended in 1972 with the old stills being replaced with four brand new stills that were steam heated.
